Bigscreen Cinema Releases – August 2007
Disclaimer: As with the DVD list, this is a compilation of titles that interest John Doe. It is NOT a comprehensive list of every big screen release in Australia this month.
August 2nd
Black Snake Moan
Down n dirty southern blues exploitation with nymphette Christina Ricci having the demons removed by evangelical Samuel L Jackson in wrath of god mode. - Read Cib’s entertaining review HERE
Black Snake Moan Trailer
Mr Brooks
The wild card from hell, perhaps? JD is not a fan of either star but the idea that it’s from the Director of Kuffs, might just work?
There is something about the premise of this comedy thriller where a detective (Demi Moore) becomes emotionally engaged with a meticulous serial killer played by Kevin Costner.
Mr Brooks Trailer
August 9th
Sicko
Michael Moore uses Fox nightly news style journalism to tell the other human side of stories, here the Awful Truth is healthcare.
Trailer for Sicko
Die Hard 4.0
Directed by the hack that made Underworld terminally dull, this looks like crap, smells like crap, probably is crap. Doesn’t change JD’s urge to see what Timothy Olyphant does as the bad guy and if Maggie Q gets Black Snake Moaning.
The Die Hard 4 Trailer
The Invisible
The trailer promises an inventive thriller..word of mouth has been mixed but there is still an element of temptation to this death bound mystery.
The Invisible Trailer
Inside Paris
A naturalistic French comedy drama that strives for real life moments of humour and romantic abstraction.

Killer New Zealand lamb salute Peter Jackson and his Braindead black comedy in a gory budget horror.
Black Sheep Trailer
The Flying Scotsmen
Build your own bike and break a world record tale of amateur cyclist Graeme Obree….with le Tour de France over I know that my girl will want to check out this Johnny Lee Miller starrer.

I must say, I'm kind of interested in the Mr Brooks film, even though I'm no fan of Demi or Kevin.
I LOVE the Die Hard series. It's sad how much I love it. So I'll definitely be going to see Die Hard 4.0. Even my best friend who can't watch action movies (falls asleep by the first bullet!) loves Die Hard, so we're off to see that.
Haven't heard of The Flying Scotsman.....but I do love Johnny Miller, so I'll probably try and catch that.
Thanks for the list!

I love these updates you do, makes it so much easier to find what I like. I had tix to see Black Snake this week but I was sick so that was a pity. I'm kind of interested in Sicko, but I might leave that for a DVD. The Invisible looks good, I like seeing a good thriller every now and again. The one I am most interested in is This is England, I'm looking firward to that one.
Great post as always,

Film & TV on DVD
I am strangely curious about Mr Brooks though it will be a DVD screening in this house.
Die Hard 4 cant be any worse than the third one and I am a massive Timothy Olyphant fan so i will probably check it out. Maggie Q is good value too.
The Flying Scotsman is right up my girls alley so I will end up seeing it for sure.
Always good to see you, appreciate your comment.

Thanks for the support, I often wonder if anyone cares about the selective coming soon list..
I was meant to attend Black Snake Moan too but was sick at the same time, really regretted missing it....I have tickets now so maybe this weekend.
Sicko will be a DVD watch for me, i find docos much more digestible in the home.
This is England looks great and I was a big fan of Dead man's Shoes....
The Invisible looks interesting enough to make my list...

I always find the list helpful and interesting.
Sounds like there was a bout of sickness spreading through Sydney last week, I was disappointed I missed Black Snake Moan too. I'm looking forward to hearing what you thought of it when you see it on the weekend.
Yes, I think Sicko is a DVD one for me, I like to stop it and pause and think and that's impossible in a cinema.
Good to see you well too. I'm still not quite right and a bit housebound so I'm enjoying the company of Orble.
