Climb Dance: Pike's Peak in a Peugeot
Not strictly cinema but certainly cinematic, John Doe is drawn to scenes of high octane, life threatening, stunt driver footage shot at actual speed like Steve McQueen to a Mustang fastback. (Check out his posts top 10 car chases and also a salute to Rendevous and Bullitt.)
JD’s tyres go all gooey for filmmakers that capture the unblinking, adrenalin charged excitement and danger he craves. The ear splitting roar of the engine, the heart pounding defiance of death as high performance automobiles are pushed to their limits and beyond.
Fuelled by Irresponsibility, the secret is all in the camera angles and raw sound that create high velocity, non edited sequences to thrust the viewer inside the driver’s seat.
The award winning short film Climb Dance is Rendezvous in a rally car. At ludicrous speed and with little regard for personal safety we get to experience what its like to tackle the infamous Pike’s Peak in a top of the line Peugeot built for just such a challenge.
So to get the juices flowing on a Monday morning and click below for Climb Dance, complete and uncut for your pulse racing pleasure.
Now just in case you still need another fix of excessive speed with frivolous and vicarious thrills, check out Getaway in Stockholm Porsche 911 style (Available on DVD)

Getaway in Stockholm was kinda like Rendezvous at night, but not quite as exhilerating. I wonder why he first gets pulled over ...? The reverse angle shots don't really work for me, they break the sustained visual rhythm, but I guess they're there to show he's gettin' away ... cos the cops aren't in sight. In fact no one is on the roads ....
Porsche engines always sound ... slightly ill, don't you think? Especially when they're "finely tuned for optimum performance"

Film & TV on DVD
In Getaway in Stockholm you could tell he didnt want to hurt the car and had some regard for public safety, still a nice safe run.
I also think that the pulling over part is staged because on teh DVD they have several cars doing a similar thing and they ofcourse conveniently have cameras already mounted in teh cars...still good fun.
A bit of dack..dack instead of broom, broom hah Bryn. The engine sounds great on the one ion the clip I thought...but Im a Porsche man.
Hi Cib,
It is worth the time to get a ride in a 911 or a 959 if you get the chance...in teh words of Ferris "It is so choice"
Greetings Charles,
Glad you dig it, high praise from an autophile like yourself.
