Dead Like Me-The DVD Movie?
Ending abruptly after just two seasons back in 2004, Dead Like Me was a smart and observant supernatural comedy created by Bryan Fuller (Heroes, Wonderfalls)
At MovieHole.com they are hearing rumours from the MGM camp that the Director of Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure will be helming a direct to DVD (DTV) movie length episode of the ill-fated and rudely mistreated Showtime/Fox series.
Having fun tackling predicaments of grief, loss, depression and the cosmic riddle of the human expiry date, Dead Like Me told of George (Ellen Muth) a cynical teenage girl. Wasting her life and ignoring the world around her, suddenly one day she gets killed. The weapon of destruction, the remnants of a recently exploded M.I.R space station, in the shape of a toilet bowl.
On impact her soul exits the body and ends up standing next to Rube (Mandy Patinkin). A Grim Reaper without the traditional threads, Rube is the leader of a group of civilised undead who walk the earth looking like you and me. There function, to release the post dated into their heavenly splendour or fiery damnation.
Another cult TV show that its owners underestimated, grasp the fan adoration only after cancellation date. (See Firefly for further details) John Doe appreciated Dead Like Me’s warped sense of melancholy humour and personable characters.
No idea how reliable the info is, or if the movie will be made, but it would be nice to get some closure and see a conclusion to this entertaining gem. But the new one better star Mandy Patinkin (Iago Montoya in The Princess Bride)and the rest of the original cast, or else.
Season 1 screens on Fox 8 in Oz and is also available on DVD.

Below you can witness George's spectaular demise form the Pilot episode.
Here is an amusing clip from the show where you get to know the reaper crew. For every action there is a severe consequence.

I really love this show...shame not many people have even seen it, or that it didn't get as highly popular as I thought it would!
Gonna go get season one on dvd though...havta watch them all over again just for fun!
Great review!
And I'd love it if they made a full length movie out of it...
But you're right, original cast or it's a wash for me!
Take care,
Nick

It surprised me too that the shwo didnt get a chance to find its audience...Glad Im not the only one who watched it though...I got Season 2 from the states on DVD a while ago and was depressed when it ended the way it did.
Mandy Patinkin is an unsung fave for me, very talented man.
Lets hope the movie gives us what we need
