Bonjour fellow moving picture fans,
The inclusion of FilmInk reviews is not part of my blog-mission of introducing visitors to some under-discussed gems, cult classics and ignored delights of cinema.
That’s right, Mister Doe must sweat and strain, biting his tongue to work under the shackles of objectivity to make a buck.
(Old Johnny boy usually delivers denouncements from up on high and states completely subjective opinions, like he was God speaking to Moses. God is a smart-ass, right?)
Now on with the sanctioned nit picking-
Title: Dirty Love
Year: (2005)
Rating: M
Genre: Romantic Comedy
Director: John Mallory Asher
Cast: Jenny McCarthy, Carmen Electra, Eddie Kaye Thomas, Kathy Griffin, Guilmero Diaz
Distributor: Madman
Available: September 2006
The Film: */*****
Dirty Love is written by Jenny McCarthy and Directed by her ex boyfriend! Ok, if you are rolling around on the floor at that last sentence there is no need to read on. You know the rest. It’s a gross out comedy, with zero comedy.
Poodle Photographer (Jenny McCarthy) is cheated on by male model boyfriend (Victor Webster). Poodle Photographer’s plutonic male friend, John (Eddie Kaye Thomas) is secretly in love with her. Yadda, yadda, yadda, Poodle Photographer realizes she loves John, and we feel his life is worse because of it.
McCarthy acting is the equivalent of Quint scratching his fingernails down the blackboard in Jaws. The supporting cast is much the same.
Without a moral compass or any sense of direction, every character is an imbecile wrapped in a cliché. Every decision is seemingly governed by the logic of a 6 year old with A.D.D. Exceptionally bad filmmaking.
