Edward Norton is The Incredible Hulk?
The Narrator is the Hulk?
Has Ed Norton got a solid crack addiction he needs to feed? Does he moonlight with high priced escorts? Is he under contract with the studio and they are forcing him to make another lame film like they did with The Italian Job remake or Red Dragon?
If any of these excuses are true then it would go along way to explaining this disturbing piece of news. Over at Variety.com they are reporting that Actor Edward Norton (American History X, Fight Club, 25th Hour, People Vs Larry Flynt) has just been hired by Marvel Studios to star in the sequel to Ang Lee’s The Hulk.
Last John Doe heard this was going to be a straight to DVD affair which he was going to ignore. Ed Norton is one of Johnny’s favourite actors working today and this report vexes him deeply. More confusing is that Hulk II is to be Directed by Luc Besson yes man Louise Leterrier (Transporter, Unleashed) and written by a destroyer of beautiful things Zak Penn (X-Men 3, Electra, Fantastic 4).
Doe just don’t understand Norton’s decision at all, except of course to feed the monkey. This may be a mighty cash cow for the actor after the disappointing box office for his last few low key films (Down in the Valley, The Illusionist and The Painted Veil) maybe teh expenses have piled up.
It would be a lie to say the JD is not at least curious to know how Ed will interpret the role of Bruce Banner but how many different ways can a thespian say the line “Hulk, Smash” with just the right inflection anyway?

EN is one of my fav actors as well, so I have no choice bu to believe in this. I've heard that he only takes on scripts that are good.
We'll see won't we?

Hi Filmpeeker,
I agree that Norton a great actor but he was forced by universal to fill out a multi-picture deal by doing the Italian Job remake and Red Dragon, two horrible films that you can see he hates being in.
The Director and writer are not what I would call inspirational and so I think this may be a troubled project.
Hope Im wrong though because Norton could sink his teeth into the troubled banner.
Great one Bryn, made me laugh

So who would everyone cast in the role of Dr Banner/Hulk?
A buddy of mine and I are partial to David Duchovny in part.

I even though RD was that bad.
I think he will be good in the Hulk, unless the script is as awful as the Hulk 2003.
David is a very nice choice indeed.

Ha! Too funny!
As for casting The Hulk, I'd like to see Hulk Hogan return to his heady acting days...

The skin colour's all wrong, but I bet John Turturro would make a great Banner

Oh, but David Duchovny as David Banner.....that would be inspired casting!
I could definitely see David Duchovny as Banner.

Hulk Hogan painted green would be a sight to see. Like a big green wrestling booger.
Hi Cib,
I was only speculating that he could be under contract like he was in Italian Job and Red Dragon, maybe he is just doing it for the cash...Now that Ed Norton is cast in the sequel I doubt it will go straight to DVD, he really guarentees that it will get a cinema release.
John Turturro, I cant really see as Bruce Banner, but he does have a a menace beneath the skin for sure.
Hi Kylie,
I said the same thing in a comment, there are a lot of names I would list before Norton as Banner....Totally agree he is one the best actors working today.
Glad you dig the Duchovny choice..
Hi Filmpeeker,
Im sure you are not the only one that could tolerate the Italian Job remake, it made some money.
Though not a great movie, Ang Lee's The Hulk IMO was much better than empty vessels like Daredevil, Electra, Fantastic 4, The Punisher etc.
You like the Dave Duchovny choice, is there anyone else who you think might be good in the role?
Film & TV on DVD
Agreed, It is a surprise they are even making a sequel and Ed Norton saying yes to the role is even more confusing.
Dave Duchovny just seems to fit the part doesnt he?

Daredevil is very good if you ask me, and I really can't understand why everyone hates it so much.
FF 4 was good depending on the point of view you look at it.
The Hulk was utter disappointment, probably down there with Electra. Ok much better than Electra.
