Who is Jonah?

These are questions John Doe has been obsessing over since his life careened into a ravenous crew of talented filmmakers working on a documentary feature called My Name is Jonah.

Jonah is in a battle to save us all from the forces of evil!

According to the blurb from the official site, the intriguing central character named Jonah Washnis is a, “self proclaimed, real life warrior, adventurer and musician who gained a tremendous cult following through his MySpace and Facebook pages.”

Tantalizing with a wider scope than first appears, those behind the scenes on the film invite us to join them on, “a journey of discovering the man behind the guise of such world famous icons as Conan the Barbarian, Robin Hood and even Marvel comics Punisher..”

Yesterday JD attended a high decibel fundraising gig for the film that featured choice bands like The Ugly Fucklings, Close Friends, Shoney Lamar, Tony Bear, The First Annual, Rock Paper Scissors, The Future Ghosts and Death and Dance Machine. Headlining the entire event was Brooklyn favourites The Press. All the performers delivered ear drum rupturing rock riff entertainment, between sets The Lion turned the tables with thumpin sweet mixes.

On hand were most of those involved in the movie, all that is except the elusive Jonah. A man shrouded in secrecy, a cloaked hero still to be unmasked…Delicately prodding those in the know, the most JD could glean was that Jonah is a real life action figure who, occasionally pushes beyond the boundaries of sanity into a world fit for comic book and sword & sorcery fantasy imaginations.

Promising surprises and an eccentric portrait of individuality, determination and possibly a dash of stupidity, this sounds like subject matter akin to Grizzly Man and Anvil: The Story of Anvil.

Still to wrap on principal photography while post production continues simultaneously, expect John Doe to keep you all informed as the project progresses and who knows, with his new contacts there may even be some exclusive interviews when the release date draws near.
