John Doe says Goodbye to George Carlin
July 1st 2008 00:01
A Short Farewell to a Man With Many Words
Word maestro, language illusionist and observer of cultural and social profundity the subversive Comedian George Carlin died 5 days ago in L.A. It’s taken till now for John Doe’s grief to allow him to type this meagre salute.
The final member of JD’s holy trinity of influential comedians to become a statistic of the worlds number one killer…death! (Lenny Bruce and Bill Hicks being the other two). JD actually did a tribute to George Carlin much earlier in his blogging career that traced Carlin’s history and generally rambled on with word like satiric genius and verbal heroics.
His compelling wit and articulate communication offered provocative cultural, corporate and theological philosophies that will be missed. There are now only 3 words that John Doe wishes were never said on television…”George Carlin Dead!”

As Orblers are entertaining readers by battling out the Abortion argument, here is a timely perspective on the debate from Mr Carlin
A Post humous look back at George waxing lyrical about Death

Hi D,
Carlin bought the gift of vocabluary and used it as a weapon of laughter. Often his musings helped me to smile through some of the more profound and painful truths in the world.
Good to see you round these parts.

Richard Pryor was my path to Eddie Murphy and both were hilarious. But, Carlin's lethal dance of words opened an alternate part of my social conciousness. It said out loud many things that I was pondering at the time. I didn't always agree with what he said but I loved the way he said it.
Intelligent and passionate diatribes that left fodder for the brain later. I hope the videos above served to wet your appetite for more...

Perhaps my personal favourite of all time, to date... he never failed to enthral me with his ability to tackle the big issues (again here ) with complete sanity.
The Funniest Man Who Ever Lived?
Yes, apt, very apt... perhaps in his death more people will discover him.
