Your Invited to Celebrate John Doe’s 4th Birthday
A Day of Self Promotion.
Wow, it’s been four years since John Doe began his attempt to establish a new world order with JD as the omnipotent celluloid lord of his virtual realm. Starting on August 15th 2006 with a review of Kiss, Kiss, Bang, Bang he now zooms forward to August 15th 2010 and can survey the damage he has done.
He missed last year’s anniversary completely and so this fourth year celebration is a heartfelt rejoicing of tenacity. A little verbose at times, often overly enthusiastic his passion for films and pleasure gleaned from writing about them remains all consuming.
The dedication may have waned at times. Starting out with all the devotion of a prolific cinephile, logging 5 posts a week for the first 2 years. JD’s move from Oz to America took its toll. With all the consistency of M Night Shymalan’s Directorial career, there was a 12 month period in limbo where one post a month was the best he could muster. The numbers suffered, the stats plummeted and he hasn’t been able to recover since.
Losing confidence in his ability to shape words and attract readers at times, struggling with output, it’s a fickle business but Johnny is not discouraged. After all he is still lurking around #11 overall on Orble. Sits snugly at number three for film posts and still achieves over 1600 loyal readers a day.
In the last few months since moving to Boston the output has again increased and the visitors have started to return. The format of the site has become a little tedious at times. Mr Doe shackles himself with his style and by design restricts the amount of deep analysis he can put into reviews purely because of his vow to remain spoiler free. That may change at some stage.
One big change that did occur recently was that John Doe decided to reveal his secret identity to the world via Facebook. You can click on the link in the left hand column of this page to find the man behind the mask.
These critiques were always intended to get people to watch the films JD loved and ignore the one’s he hated. That’s right, the endgame is to convert all readers to his way of thinking. Sadly the box office numbers still fail to reflect his tastes.
Anyway, this post really isn’t about the attention starved, ego driven writer typing this. It’s about the readers. The people that decide to click on his meager pages and read the Doe’s inconsistent, sometimes hypocritical ravings.
To all you out there that find entertainment and enlightenment on JDMFilmreviews, Johnny's affection for you is even greater than Llyod Dobler's was for Diane Court in Say Anything. Thank you, your patronage and loyalty is a gift. Hope that you stick around, vote, comment and see what’s to come in the future.
For today, go watch your favourite movie. Get a big bucket of popcorn and a choc top and join JD in his unwavering addiction for visual storytelling.

Because he is so insiiiightfuuulllll,
and thinks quite lateeerrraaallllllllly!!!!!
tee hee!
Well done old chasp!
Here is to another four years, unless, of course, the Mayans are RIGHT!!! Then, sadly, you and all Orbleans only have 758 Orble days left to review films and make kindly and witty remarks....sigh.
Frankly, a BIG part of me can't wait till the big crack up...if it turns out to be a global crack up...is this little cheery chat turning a bit negative???
FORGET EVERYTHING I JUST SAID!
Well, the negative stuff...
You are an absolute chump!
OOPS!
I MEAN CHAMP!!!
cheers and keep converting, for with your contribution, the film review world is a far more interesting and thoughtful place to be.
May your creatively expressive think-ink always be a never ending well of inspiration!
And, as they say in the good ole YOOO ESSE of EHHH???
Actually, just realized that is usually the monosyllabic gutteral utterance of brutish men with shaven, block shaped heads, big musssculls and very large man-weapons... maybe the last bit isn't sooo bad, depending on the type of weapon and one's particular proclivities, of course!
For you...one last ancient Chinese proverb;
"May your face always be the resting place of buxom lusty women."
Don't ask me what it means, or where it came from, I think it appeared on a Ming Dynasty public convenience and was adopted by minions of MINGE the Merciless!
