Cinema dreams come true, John Doe lands in L.A.
The John Doe Travel Log: Day 1
Dear readers, Apologies for the lack of posts over the last week (Read none), Johnny blames it on the smoke and mirrors of L.A and Vegas. (Maybe the hedonistic consumption of alcohol also has something to do with it.)
Over the years Johnny D has travelled quite extensively touring Europe, The UK and even portions of Asia. Quickly he learnt that the one consistent surprise was that the perceived image of the destination always differed greatly from what he actually experienced almost the instant he arrived. (Eg: The people, the culture or even the cuisine) Los Angeles California is the exception to this rule.
As the luxurious Air Tahiti Nui plane banked around and began its descent into LAX a lifelong obsession with visiting cinema histories ground zero quickly became a reality. Disembarking and making a B line for the nearest shuttle bus it wasn’t long before John D’s expectations were being met. Hurtling along the LA freeway (yep, the same one where Will Petersen decided to floor his auto and run against traffic in To Live and Die in LA) our maniac chaffuer swerved from lane to lane, honking his horn any chance he got.
Arriving at our hotel just of Hollywood Boulevards walk of fame, everything felt strangely familiar. Street corners and buildings triggering a flood of celluloid memories so clear it was as if he had been there all his life. Bouncing up and down excitedly exclaiming to his compadraes, “there’s the alley that the Reservoir Dogs strutted out of”, “look at the fox building where John McClane battled Hans Gruber.” or “Oh my god there is the canal where Blue Thunder flew, Arnie rescued John Connor from the T 100 and Johnny Travolta raced grease Lightning”.
You get the idea for JD fiction and the real world finally became so blurred he melted down.
