Kevin Smith to Write and Direct Heroes Origin story

Kevin Smith is a Hero
As the latest news from the San Diego Comic Con hits the internet, one particular dollop of news has piqued John Doe’s interest.
Fans of NBC’s comic book soap opera HEROES may be aware that there was a Q&A with the cast and creators at this years event. Amongst this fevered setting of supreme geekdom it was announced that there is going to be a Heroes spin off series titled “Origins”.
Watch a clip of the cast and crew talking about the show and the audience going ape here.
Due to air in April 2008 “Origins” will fill in the hiatus period , consisting of 6 standalone stories that each tell of the discovery of powers and questions of morality. Exciting enough news, but the hysteria reached gargantuan proportions when the words “Kevin Smith to write and Direct pilot episode” were uttered moments later.
Strutting past the actors Hayden Panettiere, Masi Oka, Tim Kring, James Kyson Lee, Jack Coleman, Ali Larter and Milo Vintimeglia, Kevin Smith sat down for an impromptu conversation about this latest project.
Best known for the films Clerks, Dogma and Chasing Amy, Smith joked about penning a story where “Ando and Hiro” are gay and also explaining the rationale behind taking the job.
This is encouraging news that could well set a precedent for serial TV, so what do all you Heroes fans think of this latest development?

But to me, Kevin Smith will always remind me of the poor guy who played Ares on Xena, of the same name. Died while rock climbing. Now theres a sad loss to the race of woman kind! Couldnt a gorgeous piece of manflesh like that take better care of himself?

Are you a fan of Heroes? It is right up Smith's alley with his inner comic book geekdom which started with MallRats.
I never saw Xena, but I can imagine that a short tubby guy would float instead of sink.
Always cool to have a visit...

Damn, Hiro is cool. I wish there was a comic book that predicted my life...
This could be golden... does Smith have what it takes anymore?

Glad you have got around to watching it....the complete season 1 DVD comes out at the end of the month.
Hiro is universally everyone's favourite it seems, though who wouldn't want the ultimate power to bend space and time?
I think Smith hasd what it takes to make the pilot worthwhile, plus his knowledge of comic book lore will fit the mold snuggly me thinks.

i dropped of the planet for 10 days there but have managed to achieve re-entry into my blogosphere.
Im a fan of Clerks, Chasing Amy and Dogma, have a soft spot for Smiths verbal stylings so this should be fun...have you seen his college Tour DVD, its hilarious...stories of writing Superman etc.

*Excuse me while I pick myself up off the floor*
You are aware, that at its hieght, it was the most watched show in THE WORLD?
And for guys, the constantly crossing story lines, historical figures and massive plot holes big enough to drown in should not be a problem....Not with so much evidence of the lesbian relationship? Not to mention the many scantily clad beautiful women?
Direct evidence of lesbian relationship, Item 1.
Season3 "Been there done that" Xena and joxer and gabrielle are walking through a villiage. Joxer happens to look up at Xena(quite a hight) puzzles at her neck and says "Is that a hickey?" The look on Gabrielle's and Xena's faces is PRICELESS!!!
I have the whole 6 seasons on dvd. I have to hunt down the hercules cross overs.
BUT
Yep, I am a fan of Heroes, not hugely, but enough to take note. I think it would be good....Add a wicked twist.
I still dont quite believe he's dead....I suppose it is that way with famous people - no closure! And he werent short and tubby....He was tall and yummy! He can be my god of war anyday, even better if he brings Xena too.
Never saw mallrats. Theres a lot I still havnt seen....

i did know of Xena's existence and watched a snippet here and there but it was way to tacky for my tastes....The only reason i would have tuned in was for Bruce "Bubba Ho Tep" Campbell, groovy.
I do like Lucy lawless on Battlestar though.

And I toldja.....Tackyness and plot lines that dont make sense even within the same series can be easily forgotten.....You know how many baths Gabby and Xena take together?

Soo...how about those Yankees.
Uh...I'd have sexual relations with Hayden Panettiere if someone asked nicely.
Uh...I've finally forgiven Adrian Pasdar for Near Dark.
Uh...it's better than Lost. But I guess that's like saying cancer is better than syphilitic meningitis.
I once chased Amy...but then she got a restraining order against me.
I'm leaving now.

Near Dark is still my fave schlock vamp film....and I agree its better than Lost Boys.
So you don't like Heroes and kevin Smith bugs the crap out of you? I can understand that, both are B grade entertainment treated with A grade credentials....but still fun for what they are.
Good to see you.
