Film & TV on DVD - John Doe Film News & Reviews

Greetings Film Fiends and welcome to John Doe's Film Blog. 30 years of dedicated celluloid obsession has meant that I have seen a few films. Drawing attention to some of the lesser discussed gems that I love. Cult classics, obscure curios and quality genre pictures. This blogs purpose is to translate some of my passion for these films and with luck, inspire you the reader to go check em out.

A Looney Tunes Monday Morning - Includes Full Length Classic Shorts

What’s your Favourite Looney Tunes Toon?

Looney Tunes
US DVD Box Set- Available individually in Australia
Whacky, self referential, slyly ridiculing the artistic elite, adult ettitquette and cultural idiosyncrasies, the WB Looney Tunes remain hysterically funny regardless of chronology or maturity.

Looking at the imaginative onscreen frenzy its hard to believe geniuses like Fritz Freleng, Chuck Jones, Mel Blanc and the rest of the famous studio weren’t all a bunch of LSD fuelled animators destined for the asylum. Revolutionaries, they created hand drawn memories, skilfully communicating universal humour using the art of flowing still images, combined with melody and sound.

Prolific, boasting a cavalcade of classic characters, to cite an outright favourite is a fools folly. John Doe grew up laughing at the exploits of Bugs, Daffy, Elmer, Porky, Wile E Coyote, Foghorn Leghorn and Marvin the Martian etc. From Duck Amock to What’s Opera, Doc all changed the animation industry and audiences cartoonish expectations forever.

Helping you through the day, kick back on a Monday Morning and soak up the swingin’ beats and slapstick delight of a few timeless crown jewels. Below are some contenders that were floating around the net. Leaving Johnny rolling on the floor in an uncontrollable grinning mania, like Joker poison were in the air.

What Looney Tunes tickle your funny bone?

The Three Little Bops (1957)

The Rabbit of Seville

Foghorn Leghorn-The Egg Cited Rooster (1952)

John,

mine is without a dobt Foghorn Leghorn the big white rooster and his little chickenhawk buddy...

Between Foghorn, the chickenhawk chick and that unsuspecting beagle, I spent many a Saturday morning eating cereal and laughing my ass off!

Great post and videos!

Take care,

Nick

love looney tunes, The Barber of Seville is awesome, as well as 'Hyde and Hare'. There was another one, can't remember the name anymore

Road Runner is always fun.

Hi Nick,
I say, I say that boy has a mind like a steel trap...Foghorn Leghorn always makes me laugh...the one where they the hounbd and the rooster have a boxing match is a classic.

Hi Ahmed,
Us Looney's are coming out of the woodwork, or is that broadband.

Hyde and Hare always tickled me too....I just wish I could have found Duck Amuck, the one where the animator gets revenge on Daffy.

Duck Amuck? The one where it turns out Bugs Bunny was the artist?

You might want to look at various bittorrent trackers for the episodes you want to see again.
5. May 7th 2007 @ 10:25. JohnDoe Says:
Yep thats Duck Amuck Ahmed,
Bugs turns out to be Chuck Jones.

Thanks for the tip but I got the US Looney Tunes Box set so I own them all already...I just couldn't find Duck Amuck online at Google video or You Tube.

Wile E Coyote, Marvin The Martian and good ole dopey Elmer.

Love every one of them, but those first three episodes happen to be my all-time favorites (especially Foghorn Leghorn). Amazing!

Say, any of you hardcore Tooners happen to know the episode that had Little Red Riding Hood as an obnoxious teenager? She'd yell "Hey Grandma!! Those are awfully big teeth...to have!" into the wolf's ear. Anyone know the artist(s)/writers/backstory? Sounded like there was some inside humor going on with that one.

I'm vague on details..it's been years since I've seen it.

Hi D,

I think you are talking about Little Red Riding Rabbit...I saw the episode and love it...sadly no trivia for ya though.
13. June 6th 2007 @ 22:25. D. Armenta Says:
Hi again JD--did you get all of the above from one volume of the Looney Tunes series? If so, which one?
I've got a serious case of toon envy going on here, LOL

D.
