Greetings Film Fiends and welcome to John Doe's Film Blog. 30 years of dedicated celluloid obsession has meant that I have seen a few films. Drawing attention to some of the lesser discussed gems that I love. Cult classics, obscure curios and quality genre pictures. This blogs purpose is to translate some of my passion for these films and with luck, inspire you the reader to go check em out.

Stylistic colour magician Kar Wai Wong’s (Chungking Express, Fallen Angels, In the Mood For Love, 2046) new film My Blueberry Nights is scheduled to premiere at Cannes this year.

This is the influential Director's first English language film and it centres around Norah Jones (making her acting debut) as she travels across America on a quest to find herself.

Colliding with an assortment of off beat, eccentric characters in her search for love and happiness, the cast includes Jude Law (Talented Mr Ripley), Tim Roth (Reservoir Dogs), David Straithairn (Good Night and Good Luck), Rachel Weisz (The Constant Gardner), Ed Harris (A History of Violence) and the delectable Natalie Portman (Heat, Beautiful Girls, Closer, Garden State).

A recent screenshot over at natalieportman.com promises sexy, cool cinematography.

Im not a little girl anymore, but don't objectify me!

Intelligent, wise beyond her years, Portman burst into the consciousness with her debut in Luc Besson’s Leon: The Professional. Since then most cinema geeks have placed her on a pedestal because of a combination of alluring beauty that’s matched by her unique thespian skills.

Though only a bit player in My Blueberry Nights the still image above immediately seers itself into the memory and shows that her presence will be felt in the film, no matter how brief the appearance.

Below you can watch a fan made salute to Director Kar Wai Wong that captures the essence of his cinematic flair.
