Film & TV on DVD - John Doe Film News & Reviews

Greetings Film Fiends and welcome to John Doe's Film Blog. 30 years of dedicated celluloid obsession has meant that I have seen a few films. Drawing attention to some of the lesser discussed gems that I love. Cult classics, obscure curios and quality genre pictures. This blogs purpose is to translate some of my passion for these films and with luck, inspire you the reader to go check em out.

News Flash: John Doe enters the Cave

John Doe reveals his split personality.

Disclaimer: JD has a serious streak of the PT Barnum’s today and has decided to persist in a little incessant self promotion.

From the headline this could be about anything really, a review of a crappy Descent remake, or that Johnny has been struck with spelunking fever, perhaps even a metaphor for a dark times ahead in his personal life.

Well fret not it’s something far more obvious, that’s right boys, girls and those that don’t know yet it means that this humble slayer of words is moonlighting. The recently revamped comic book website cavecc.com has just gone back online and guess who’s Multimedia Director and Contributor.

Correct-amundo John boy is submitting articles for publication on this immensely popular site that revolves around a universe of film, books, music, TV, graphic novels and comics etc.

From cavecc.com About Us-
“Established because of an insatiable devotion to pop culture that wasn’t being satisfied elsewhere, Cave Comics and Collectibles is an innovative retail, news and features site".

Writing under my real name (Yep my secret identity will be revealed) I will try and post a pair of fresh articles each week in the news and reviews section. To read my first piece titled “11 Chilling Celluloid Killers” just click the title.

Supplying all the copy for each main page of the site, as you can see I’m like a flesh eating bacteria that has violated this ripe creative outlet. Don’t worry though Johnny D will continue to fuel JDM Film Reviews daily with his own unique cinema critique.

The Cave site only just went live so most of the traffic is basically just people who know people. The official notifications and launch will probably be next month sometime and until then things will be constantly evolving as graphics are tweaked and user options are increased.

In the meantime I recommend checking out the freshly hatched forums page that is undefended against the onslaught of opinions I know you all want to share about everything in the art and entertainment world.

Thanks for tolerating me hawking my wares, I shall go now and prepare for tomorrow night...
why brain, what will we do tomorrow night?...
same thing we do every night Pinky, try and take over the world!!!

Thanks Nick,

The site does have potential, it was really popular before it underwent reconstruction...early days at the moment but it should pick up momentum quickly.

Hey, outstanding!! Rutger Hauer in "The Hitcher" still gives me chills. I admire the maker of "Scrapbook" for de-romanticizing the serial killer myth.

It's true: the serial killer is commonly portrayed as an ultra-intelligent being that no one stands a chance against. I beg to differ!! The "Green River Killer" was successfully overcome in physical battle by one of the hookers he was trying to kill. Quite simply--she kicked his ass. Probably because she hadn't heard all the hype about him.

Sadly, I was only able to answer 6 out of 10 questions to join, so I have to try again later. Dammit!!

Hi D,

Awesome, really appreciate the feedback and I hope you get through the next time.

Scrapbook alienates its audience because of its raw, realistic savagery, but thats the point.

Rutger Hauer in The Hitcher is a fave. (Click HERE to read my Hitcher review.)
