The Goonies Reunited – Empire Footage Included

“Hey You Guys" - Why Do We Have To Grow Up"?

There is a generation that grew up in the 80’s craving their own Goonie adventure and John Doe was no exception. We dreamed of booty trapped, oops booby trapped caves, pirate ships, slightly mutated giants and jumping on Kerry Green in a dimly lit cavern. Stumbling onto One Eyed Willie’s treasure and saving the family home from evil corporate developers. Did I already mention Kerry Green’s ya-ya’s?

Today many have shown the Steven Spielberg Produced, Richard Donner Directed childhood fantasy to their own kids so the term classic family fun can be super glued to the title.

As a treat for all you lovers the Empire crew decided to celebrate their own 20th anniversary by reuniting all seven of the original gang for a love-in that results in some goonalific moments caught on digital video.

Josh Brolin (Older brother Brand Walsh) returns from the Country with No Old Men.

Sean Astin (Mikey) weaves a spell to materialize from Middle Earth despite being so embarrassed on the DVD audio commentary that he left the building.

Kerri Green (Andy) still looks as tasty as ever, slash that tastier because now she’s a fully formed woman with all the assets.

Chunk (Jeff Cohen) himself has no hair or spare tyre but did become a successful lawyer in real life..now there’s an image being defended with the Truffle Shuffle.

Former River Phoenix sweetheart Martha Plimpton (Stef) brings that special something that makes her an under appreciated performer.

Short Round aka Data aka Jonathan Ke Quan seems contemplative but smiles sweetly.

Naturally Corey Feldman (Mouth) and his ego demand a wide lens to capture his inner Lost Boys essence without that evil Haim twin. (Credit where credits due Corey 1 does come up with the term uni-goonie during the interview)

So channel Cyndi Lauper, grab a babe ruth bar and regress to enjoy The Goonies as they are now reminiscing about the good old days. Sadly no speculating on that much rumored sequel is to be found but there is a competition that asks for fan ideas and the prize is an autographed poster.

Yes I wanted my own Goonie adventure too - how cool! What a great movie. Oh the memories - I must've seen this at least a half a dozen times as a kid!

Great to see them all together again JD, I have a strong nostalgic connection to the film too. Even though I suspect I was beyond the age group it was intended for when I first saw it, I still loved everything about it. I think it remains a great adventure for all ages!

Man, I haven't seen this movie since I was very little - I don't remember anything about it....

Hi David,

right up there with raiders, star wars and Superman this one...never ages this one and the commentary track on the DVD is a hoot..proves once and for all Corey Feldman really needs a script in real life to make him bearable...so which Goonie were you?

Hi JKund 17,

I just hope if there is a sequel it doesn't look anything like the atrocious Lost Boys 2.

Thanks for popping by.
