Film & TV on DVD - John Doe Film News & Reviews

Greetings Film Fiends and welcome to John Doe's Film Blog. 30 years of dedicated celluloid obsession has meant that I have seen a few films. Drawing attention to some of the lesser discussed gems that I love. Cult classics, obscure curios and quality genre pictures. This blogs purpose is to translate some of my passion for these films and with luck, inspire you the reader to go check em out.

The Muppets Movie Poster Collection

A Muppet movie world

muppets blade runner
Deckard goes green

Jim Henson’s Muppets played a massive role in Junior Doe’s life. (You can read a post JD did for the first season HERE) There is an undiminished intelligent charm to this eclectic puppeteering franchise that sews up its timeless appeal.

muppets scarface
Say hello to my little Grover

Over on Fark.com a neat little competition is being held with subscribers submitting photoshopped images of celluloid classics old and new, doctoring them to incorporate characters from the show.

muppets reanimator
A Bunsen, a Beeker and a Head

The link between the program and cinema has always been part of the appeal. A parody of movie clichés, the guest list for episodes reads like whose, who of silver screen stars. From Vincent Price to the cast of Star Wars, Gene Kelly to Sylvester Stallone the talent that showed up to perform with these fluffy figures was testament to its universal attraction.

muppets eraserhead
David Lynch's real nightmare

Taking a few of the choice creations from fark.com for this post, JD recommends you visit the site to see the full selection.

Muppets fear and loathing
The Gonzo journalist and the blue pill

muppets no country for old men
No place for hecklers

muppets goodfellas
For as long as I can rememeber I always wanted to be a Muppet!

the Exorcist
Ring around the collar, a muppet of god

Hi Tracy,

I was actually going to do a film review today but stumbling upon these posters I couldn't resist sharing.

The artists really have done a fine job of merging images and many of them made me giggle. As I said this is only a small selection of what has been posted on www.fark.com, so click the links and have a look at the rest. Many gems to be found.

The Beekercist?

Dear god that is funny.

Hi Damo,

The Beekercist is the one that got me laughing loudest too. The image itself is hilarious with the B mans thin frame entering the gates to Regan's.

It was tough to shortlist the selection, some of the other ones that i didn't use are bloody funny too.

Hi Cib,

Fark has all sorts of faun ways to lose a few hours. The posters demanded a showing on JDMfilmreviews, I wish you could buy them in stores!

Hi Lilla,

Thanks for the comprehensive visit, I was wondering where you had got too recently.

Animal was always my favourite Muppet...oh to misbehave with abandon.

HAHAHHA Classic ...he is one of my favourites.

I have been trying to write press releases for a group resembling the Muppets in outer space ... no lack of variety in a freelance journalists week

Brilliant idea for a post! I saw these somewhere a while back, I think in a contest or something and they are fantastic. Really well done, good job putting them all in one post. Good stuff.

Hi Lilla,

Sounds like a fun way to make a buck...I'm reduced to writing copy for leaflets to pay the bills at the moment, oh to dream of being a Muppet in space.
