Paul Thomas Anderson’s latest Trailer

Paul Thomas Anderson’s "There Will be Blood" Trailer

Paul Thomas Anderson Mirror
Fiction can sometimes mirror reality

Auteur Writer/Director Paul Thomas Anderson's (Hard Eight, Boogie Nights, Magnolia) latest opus has been eagerly anticipated by cinephiles everywhere.
"I have a feeling, one of those gut feelings, that I'll make pretty good movies the rest of my life. And maybe I'll make some clunkers, maybe I'll make some winners, but I guess the way that I really feel is that Magnolia is, for better or worse, the best movie I'll ever make." Paul Thomas Anderson

On Friday over at the PTA resource CigarettesandRedVines.com they have just posted a first look trailer for the enticingly titled There Will Be Blood.

Daniel Day Lewis in character
Looking like it could be an extension of the Deadwood universe (that’s a good thing) this period drama stars the ever impressive Daniel Day Lewis (My Left Foot, Room With a View, My Beautiful Laundrette) as a greedy Oil tycoon. Co starring Paul Dano (Little Miss Sunshine), Ciaran Hinds (Munich) and Kevin J O’Connor (Gods and Monsters) the film examines the birth of American business and the pioneer spirit.

In typical PT Anderson fashion the plot promises an immersive morality essay on family, corruption, and spirituality. Enhanced by inspired use of cinematic techniques, authentic characters and personalised storytelling.
"I watch Spielberg movies, and know: Those are fairy tales. I understand what he does. And I make a film on cancer and frogs - however I want that many spectators nevertheless! I find, that is a good goal, and I consider it a weakness of mine that I haven't reached it yet."Paul Thomas Anderson

Paul Thomas Anderson is a singular entity in cinema who was inspired by the Robert Altman style ensemble cast cinema verite (McCabe and Mrs Miller, Nashville, The Player). His feature film debut was the under discussed, low life jewel Hard Eight, which was an extension of the Cannes winning short film Sydney.

His next release Boogie Nights, announced the arrival of a major talent. Ever since the stubborn, confident filmmaker has been able to make the films he wants within the studio system, retaining creative control and also the holy grail of final edit.

Hi Cib and Bryn,
LOL- mmmm Roller Girl

Daniel Day Lewis does look good in his make up doesn't he.

Its the Deadwood vibe I'm getting from the Trailer that has me out of control anxious to see There Will be Blood.

Hi KylieW,
I liked Magnolia, didn't love it, but Boogie Nights and Hard Eight proved to me that PTA was a gifted visual storyteller looking to tackle life's deeper emotional mysteries.

Daniel Day Lewis! Did you see "The Unbearable Lightness of Being"?

This film looks promising. I thought "Boogie Nights" was quite well done; PTA captured the "feel" of the late 70s very adroitly.
