John Doe Reports - Let The Right One In Director Begins to Tinker, Tailor.
Casting announced for Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy.
Today Empire Online reported on the latest casting developments for Director Tomas Aldreson’s remake of Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy based on the classic espionage novel by former MI5 and MI6 operative John Le Carre.
Many cinephiles and fangaholics lapped up the Swedish filmmakers poetic getting of wisdom vampire entry Let the Right One In and ever since have been eagerly gnawing on throats in anticipation of his next project.
Gary Oldman can't even sit on a chair properly, imagine what he will do with an outside the box spy.
Previously adapted as a successful 1979 British TV miniseries Directed by John Irvin (The Dogs of War, City of Industry) and starring Jedi master Alec Guiness, improving on the original is going to require stealth, cunning and covert tactics.
Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy tells the story of a retired Intelligence agent George Smiley, whose tenacious and perceptive talents have served him well. Called back into active duty he is recruited to hunt down a Russian mole that has infiltrated the highest levels of the Secret Service.
Taking the jargon littered source and writing for the screen is Frost/Nixon and The Last King of Scotland scribe Peter Morgan.
Still in the early stages of development and scheduled for a 2012 release nothing more is known yet, but expect John Doe to be on top of behind the scenes, trailer and poster news as it emerges.

There is a real irony to the remake cycle isn't there? I'm a huge fan of the book and the miniseries and agree with the cast assembled this could be something special.

Really Bryn?
Not even the Harry palmer series that started with The Ipcress File or the melancholy grit of the Spy Who came In From The Cold?
While Dragon tattoo chicky did have elements that make a good spy film i would not define it as such.

Agreed David, there is a systemic problem with the Arthouse to Hollywood evolution...let's just hope Alfredson doesn't end up another Woo, Besson, etc and falls more into the Del Toro camp.
