The Wild Bunch @ The Chauvel This Sunday
The Wild Bunch @ The Chauvel Sunday
The Wild Bunch is often cited by John Doe as the greatest western ever made. A bold, violent assault demolishing the mythic wild west and replacing it with a more historic, blood soaked world of pain.
"If they move, Kill em" - Pike
Beautifully shot with virtuoso editing and gritty performances. This is Director Sam Peckinpah’s (Straw Dogs, The Getaway) carnage filled love letter to tough hombres of the past that refused to bow to technology or abide laws penned by corrupt politicians.
Shocking audiences in 1969 more used to bloodless bullet wounds, onscreen fist fights for fun and clear cut good guys and bad guys. The Wild Bunch redefined the genre, flesh flies continuing the revolution to depict more realistic, brutal combat and authentic consequences.
As part of the Chauvel Cinemas ongoing classic double feature Sundays it is appropriate that screening alongside this earth shaking experience is Clint Eastwood’s equally poignant and honest Unforgiven.
You can see The Wild Bunch and Unforgiven together this Sunday (13th) @ the Chauvel Cinema. Screenings begin at 6pm sharp.
Visit www.chauvelcinema.net.au for all the details and to see the jaw dropping, quality line up they have in the following months including JD favourites like Bullitt, Kiss Me Deadly, Night of The Hunter, Yojimbo, Sweet Smell of Success and Mildred Pierce etc

I actually hate to admit this, but I've never seen The Wild Bunch! I know I know, it''s a classic, but for some strange reason I just never got around to watching it!
The Unforgiven however, was a masterpiece...I thought Hackman was pure evil... and pure genius!
Now I'll have to go rent The Wild Bunch just based on your review...
Take care,
Nick
